Job Description

As Head of Marketing Finance, you’ll provide senior Finance business influencing and partnering with key VP- and Director-level stakeholders in our Growth org (Performance Marketing, CRM, Brand). You will be the fulcrum between the commercial and Finance teams for the marketing investment, a critical growth lever as we look to expand our presence across Europe, embedding data-led critical thinking in all aspects of investment planning and assessment to ensure business objectives are met in the most effective and efficient way possible.

Your team will deliver high quality, actionable insight to drive decision-making and investment allocation across Brand and Performance Marketing for both the UK and International Consumer business segments. Our department is ever-evolving, and so you will play an important role in enabling a culture of continuous improvement working closely with the Data team to devise innovative ways to access insight. 

  • Growth: Marketing: accountable for delivering clarity on spend decisions on 70M Perf Marketing & Brand budget, including
    • Powering business growth whilst optimising for balance with shareholder return: assessing and challenging business thinking on key payback indicators: customer lifetime value, ROI and incrementality of marketing spend, in order to inform decision-making and to manage growth and payback in line with Group investment objectives
    • Optimising capital allocations and driving business thinking on the interplay of the multiple strands of the marketing strategy and available levers (Performance Marketing, Brand, discounting; acquisition, renewals, reactivation)
    • Spend budgeting & reforecasting: owning the process for setting budgets and measuring delivery against budgeted outcomes, for capturing variances to plan and understanding outturn impacts
    • Holding the business to account on core Marketing objectives, and managing / influencing decision-making on course-corrections and adjustments to the plan
    • Facilitating spend decision-making and responsible acceleration of investment with business cases and ROI assessment
    • Helping to set and monitor operational KPIs which align with wider goals and guide the business to success
    • Test & learn: holding the Growth team to account for investment in testing and the learnings produce
  • Growth: Lifetime Value
    • Roadmap support, assessment & course correction for super-charging the growth business through increased retention and value per customer
    • Customer behaviour, retention, frequency: cohorts
    • Shaping and influencing Data Science team roadmap to prioritise business-critical, high impact projects

Qualifications

  • You’ll bring experience in a commercial finance, marketing finance or analytical role, and demonstrate a proactive, can-do attitude.
  • We’d prefer you to have worked within a digital, e-commerce, technology or retail environment but we can flex on this given your ability to work with pace and energy within a growth environment.
  • A team player with experience of leading a small team combined with a ‘roll your sleeves up’ attitude of your own, you’ll be used to thinking laterally to solve problems and challenges, and will have a passion for making meaning out of data.
  • Similarly, it’s vital that you bring an innate ability to distil and communicate results of complex analysis clearly and effectively to all levels of the business.
  • Working independently within tight deadlines, you’ll use your understanding of best-in-class stakeholder management and proactive partnering skills to ensure your team’s insights are used to optimise business success.
  • We’re looking for creative big thinkers with small egos to achieve our ambitious plans.
