Job Description

Trainline is looking to hire a Program Manager in charge of Goaling and Portfolio management to help drive alignment to business goals and high performance within our Engineering department.

This role will primarily: -

  • Evangelise goaling through OKRs
  • Educate Trainliners on the OKR methodology and ways of working, and lead the OKR Coach community
  • Drive annual Company OKR definition and tracking process throughout the year
  • Drive quarterly OKR process at Strategic Theme level, ensuring right goals are being set, scores reported regularly and reported correctly
  • Do lightweight tracking of project execution across portfolio, flagging key wins and risks to Tech Leadership and the Exec
  • Do lightweight tracking of org shape (headcount, vacancies, contractors) in partnership with Tech Leadership, People and Finance teams

Strategy & Operations in a small dynamic organisation that works to scale alignment and productivity of Trainline’s Tech department. As such the expectation of everyone in this org is to be flexible and focus on highest overall priorities, with regular rotation of responsibilities between different roles. For example you may get asked to manage the execution of a complex or strategic effort, consult on the ways of working, or help drive budget planning in addition to your core role on goaling and portfolio.

The role will closely collaborate with Tech Leadership as well as Uber Theme leadership (teams of 5) and the rest of Strategy & Ops org to achieve best outcomes with minimal process and overhead.

This role can be based in London, Paris or Barcelona

Qualifications

  • Extensive previous experience working with software engineering teams across different domains and types of projects (e.g. product, business or tech strategy oriented).
  • Previous experience of working with OKRs – both defining them and executing on them.
  • Exceptional communication skills that span the ability to present to executive audiences, influence tech and product leadership, as well as present and communicate to wider audience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence up, down and across without direct authority.
  • Structured approach, strong organisational skills and focus on the business outcomes
  • Some experience with data and Tableau would be beneficial.
