Job Description

Trainline’s Platform One supports all our customer propositions across B2C, Branded Business Travel, B2B Distribution, TOC Partner Solutions and Supply Integrations, on multiple channels including web, app, external APIs, and agent tooling for both in-house customer support and external B2B customers. This role is responsible for the European Supply Integration within Platform One, a key enabler to creating the world’s #1 rail platform and driving our purpose to empower greener travel choices.  

The International Supply teams currently have 17 live connections to different vendors supporting over 250 carriers across Europe with our key focus on growth markets France, Italy, Germany, and Spain. There are 5 engineering squads taking responsibility for maintaining and building new integrations, the translations and carrier reference data, and the business logic that is used by other teams across Trainline. The teams connect with vendor APIs to integrate with operations for search, reserve, purchase, fulfil, refund and exchange to shield the rest of Trainline from the complexity created by multiple suppliers. They are also integral in the Trainline ecosystem to support finance activities such as reporting, VAT and settlement. 

Trainline’s Supply OKRs for Platform One are focused on speed, quality, stability, completeness of content, and enabling other teams to develop and optimize features built on top of our integrations. Also critical to the success in this role is close collaboration and support in building relationships with our suppliers.  

This role has responsibility for 2 squads. Engineering teams are based in Paris and London offices with additional offshore support in India, Portugal and elsewhere. Travel is encouraged in order to build great relationships with engineers, business partners and suppliers across Europe. 

Key partnerships in this role are with counterparts in Engineering, Supply and Commercial to set quarterly OKRs and prioritise delivery outcomes for this area to achieve overall company goals.  

  • Know the competitive landscape, global industry trends and company strategy, owning the short, medium and long-term roadmap for one or more squads  

  • Generate ideas for improvements taking problems, resolving ambiguity and comprehensively exploring options whilst championing an outcome driven approach 

  • Drive squads’ prioritization, making trade-offs and striking a good balance of delivering new features, platform improvements, reporting and monitoring capabilities  

  • Triangulate multiple signals using data tools to generate insights, communicate hypotheses to wider audience and share learnings from both successes and failures 

  • Lead/participate in Agile ceremonies, with responsibility for a high standard of meaningful documentation and process 

  • Be the customer advocate; evaluate and understand customer insights and align to the work your team are delivering to ensure you are meeting the end user needs 

  • Concise and effective communication with team providing context and strategy 

  • Develop relationships to regularly engage, communicate, and influence peers and business partners through clear articulation of the “why”, through both written and confident verbal presentation 

  • Execute with limited direction tracking squad priorities and cross team dependencies, coordinating with partners across the business using data and insights to make timely decisions when needed 

  • Build credibility by striving to understand technology decisions and implications, and build knowledge of domain 

  • React to operational issues, either customer or technical, and prioritise remedial action as appropriate to avoid poor customer experience or internal inefficiency 

  • Be an effective member of the squad leadership with Engineering and Design or Business partners making sure squads are in a  happy and functional place 

Qualifications

  • 3 years experience in a Product Management role in a tech business 

  • Worked in a fast-paced environment where you’ve had to think on your feet and bring people together to problem solve 

  • Led a full-stack team or led delivery coordination across multiple teams 

  • Evidence of customer centric thinking through insights, data and experimentation 

  • Knowledge and experience of working with Agile frameworks, writing user stories, setting sprint goals and collaborating with teams on acceptance criteria  

  • Analytical thinking and decision making, able to weigh up conflicting priorities and make the right decision using a balance of qual and quant data inputs 

  • Experience in travel industry or a marketplace could be beneficial
