We are looking for a Senior Tax Analyst to report directly to the Group Head of Tax in our growing finance team.

Since the Head of Tax joined the business Trainline have been building out their in-house tax function and managing the transition from a fully outsourced function to a value add internal advisory function. The Head of Tax has begun that journey and laid out the roadmap for what the future of the tax function looks like. We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious tax accountant to help build on this vision and continue on this journey. 

In our fast-moving business, no day is the same, but your role will:

• Provide you with exposure across the business where you will be working with various teams to increase the visibility and profile of the tax department.
• Cover a wide range of all taxes, where you will take ownership of the Corporation Tax, VAT, Employment taxes and Transfer Pricing.
• Process improvement – in our fast-paced world things change quickly and we need to adapt our processes to make sure they adapt too. We want you to bring new ideas and insight into the best practices to adopt.
• Keeping up to date with the ever-evolving tax legislation and as we grow acting proactively to ensure Trainline group are ready to meet the requirements of the legislation.

• Microsoft Excel proficiency should be very good/excellent with good analytical skills – minimum pivots, vlookup, sumif(s) etc (macros level not required)
• Experience in Alphatax is preferable, however not essential where alternative corporation tax software has been used. Alphatax training is available.
• You will need strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus.
• A proactive person with hands on mentality and the ability to act and operate independently and collaborate with colleagues to accomplish objectives.
• Ability to manage and liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders including industry professionals and suppliers.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to tackle tax and accounting queries.
• 'Can do' approach and willing to give everything a go from manual processing to larger projects.
• Excellent organisation skills: ability to plan and organise work so that it is efficient and effective.

The successful candidate will ideally have trained with a reputable firm acquiring and will hold a ACA, CTA, ACCA or equivalent qualification. This role will suit a broad range of Tax professionals either looking for their first move from practice or having moved in house already but are looking for a fresh challenge. We are open minded to the type of Tax experience candidates may have but you are likely to have a broad mixed taxes background with a focus on corporation tax or are looking to that step in the next stage of their career to become a trusted business advisor covering all taxes.
