About The Role

Tradeshift is looking for an Engineering Manager with focus on DevOps for the Platform Operations team. 

Reporting to the global Head of Platform Operations, the Engineering Manager will be given the opportunity to do some really great work.  If you can bring in new ideas and new ways of doing things, know when to go with best practices and when to go and create them yourself, keep reading. You will be expected to provide strategic direction and operational expertise to enable our Platform Operations team to successfully meet the expectations of running and scaling the Tradeshift Platform.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will collaborate with engineering and product teams to implement the infrastructure required to support their vision and strategy. You will also be part of developing a roadmap for the evolution of our infrastructure platform.

As a DevOps Engineering Manager you will...

• Have direct responsibility for one team of approximately 3-4 devops engineers reporting to you. This includes planning individual growth, holding 1:1s with reports, doing performance reviews, mentoring and coaching for each team member
• Be responsible for energizing, recognizing and improving where you see fit within your team 
• Be responsible for measuring the performance of your team to meet product delivery goals with focus on the security, quality and maintainability of your deliverables 
• Help guide proper practices for your domain 
• Contribute technically when needed with code, code reviews, and discussions
• Participate in on-call rotation for maintaining the platform
• Work with your team in an iterative fashion, balancing technical debt and major architectural evolutions 
• Work in an environment where teams own and operate the services they build

• About you 5+ years of DevOps / software development with prior leadership experience in some capacity 
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills 
• You have a proven track record of working with cross functional teams to deliver projects within scope, time, budget and quality 
• You have a passion for interacting with many different people to achieve a goal 
• Experience managing Linux systems
• A deep knowledge about AWS or other cloud services such as AliCloud, Azure or GCP with focus on compute resources, block storage, authorization, storage and managed services for databases.
• Experience with Kubernetes Infrastructure
• Experience in efficient Platform Operations at scale using cloud technologies
• Have strong hands on experience with leveraging and/or managing distributed logging, monitoring and observability systems (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Splunk, CloudWatch)
• Have hands-on experience building and operating distributed systems and/or service oriented architectures
• Have scripting experience in Bash or Python
• Have some experience with Devops processes and tools (Jenkins) and maintaining infrastructure as code (Terraform)
• Have great team collaboration and leadership skills
• Have a security first mindset throughout all decisions 
• BS/MS in computer science, engineering or equivalent work experience
