Job Description
The role:
Tradeshift is seeking a VP, Strategic Finance. Your primary responsibility will be building and managing a world-class global financial planning and analysis function. You will lead the team through all aspects of the planning processes and provide strategic insight and recommendations to the business on its financial performance, focusing on KPIs, trends, and analytics to help meet the company's long-term growth plans.
Reporting to the CFO, you will lead our FP&A teams, leading all short and long-range financial planning and target setting, while partnering with our sales, customer success, and product teams on pricing and initiatives. Our team’s mission is to partner and plan with the business to drive the right decisions through actionable insights/analysis. This role will have significant interaction with the CFO, plus meaningful exposure to other C-Level executives. The ideal candidate is a strong leader experienced in building and growing teams and passionate about fostering strong business partner relationships. This is a highly visible role that will help significantly shape the next chapter of growth for Tradeshift.
What you will be doing:
Interact with Tradeshift leadership team and serve as a thought leader in helping to shape the financial framework for sales, marketing, customer success, and product organizations, as well as other related strategic growth areas
Build and develop easily consumable frameworks for translating strategy into measurable financial reporting with the goal of improving target setting for revenue, margin and operating investments
Manage both the bottom and top line for the business. This includes strong partnership across the finance team
Ensure financial models reflect an aligned approach to Tradeshift products, sales and marketing strategies, margin goals and investment priorities across the organization
Improve the forecasting accuracy and process through new analytics, increased automation, and process optimization.
Help the company effectively and efficiently allocate financial resources and make sound decisions to support growth while mitigating risk exposure
Design and develop incentive compensation plans that are clear, measurable, cost-efficient, and effective at driving behaviors to meet business objectives in an extremely fast-paced global organization
Manage, encourage, develop and continue to grow a high-performing team that supports these existing organizations
Deliver quarterly analysis and reporting of the business' financial results including variances to plan, ensuring key issues, risks, and business drivers are understood and highlighted
Collaborate with Accounting to ensure we have best-in-class processes around close and financial reporting
Partner with the CFO to build and develop the broader Finance team into a world-class organization
Qualifications
- Extensive experience building, leading and developing the FP&A function in both private and public companies; the ideal candidate will have held progressively senior FP&A or Divisional CFO type roles
15+ years of experience working in hyper-growth environments focused preferably in SAAS company
Sales and business partnership strategic finance experience required
Proven track record of developing people, leading and managing high-performing teams
Strong executive leadership skills with experience partnering at the board, investor, and executive management levels
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and proven experience in cultivating collaborative working relationships with teams across an organization. Track record of close partnership with C-suite/senior-level executives, influencing business
Forward-thinking, analytical and problem-solving mindset. Drawn to building off of ambiguous and unsolved problems and “making it happen”. Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
Strong problem solving and analytical skills with experience partnering with data analytics
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field; advanced degree preferred
