Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the Senior Director, Business Solutions & Technology Delivery plays a critical leadership role in aligning technology investments, priorities, and delivery with business objectives. 

This position leads the Business Solutions function and serves as a key partner to business and technology leaders across the organization. The role will help drive enterprise modernization, technology transformation, and AI-enabled capabilities while ensuring technology investments deliver measurable business value.

Lead Business Solutions 

  • Provide leadership, direction, and accountability for the Business Solutions team, including application portfolio ownership, business relationship management, and delivery governance. 

  • Partner with leaders across the organization to translate business priorities into technology roadmaps, investment strategies, and delivery plans. 

  • Monitor application portfolio health, delivery performance, and business outcomes, using relevant metrics to inform priorities and provide transparency. 

  • Oversee strategic technology vendors and partner relationships, driving performance, commercial compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement. 

Drive Enterprise Technology Delivery 

  • Lead and coordinate complex, cross-functional technology initiatives involving business stakeholders and teams across Infrastructure, Security, Architecture, Operations, and Strategic Sourcing. 

  • Partner closely with IT Operations & Service Delivery on major technology changes, operational risks, escalations, and initiatives that affect business or application outcomes. 

  • Align business solution planning with infrastructure capabilities, enterprise architecture direction, operational readiness, cybersecurity requirements, and organizational standards. 

  • Provide executive visibility into key risks, dependencies, priorities, service-delivery considerations, and delivery outcomes. 

Support the CIO and Enterprise Transformation 

  • Act as a key delegate for the CIO across selected governance, business, and cross-functional technology initiatives. 

  • Support technology governance, enterprise risk management, executive reporting, budget and capital planning, and major technology, vendor, and investment decisions. 

  • Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing & Facilities on procurement, contract renewals, vendor governance, cost optimization, and commercial matters. 

  • Advance enterprise AI integration and enablement by coordinating across business, architecture, security, operations, and delivery teams. 

  • Develop business cases for technology investments and track value and return on investment to inform prioritization and resource decisions. 

Lead and Develop People 

  • Build, coach, and develop a high-performing Business Solutions team with clear expectations, development plans, and accountability for results. 

  • Provide leadership across matrixed initiatives through influence, coordination, and governance. 

  • Manage team capacity, organizational structure, succession planning, and resource allocation in alignment with portfolio priorities and budget constraints. 

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree or college diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience will be considered. 

  • A graduate degree such as an MBA or MIS, or relevant certifications such as PMP, ITIL, or CGEIT, is an asset. 

  • 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience spanning applications, business technology delivery, infrastructure or service-delivery environments, and vendor management. 

  • Proven success aligning technology delivery with business outcomes, navigating competing priorities, and building effective cross-functional partnerships. 

  • Strong business relationship management skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technology priorities and clearly communicate outcomes to non-technical stakeholders. 

  • Exceptional people leadership skills and demonstrated experience leading teams and influencing outcomes across matrixed organizations. 

  • Effective executive communication skills, with confidence presenting to C-suite and board-level audiences. 

  • Strong financial and strategic planning capabilities, including budget stewardship, vendor cost governance, capital planning, and technology investment decisions. 

  • Familiarity with enterprise application platforms, cloud infrastructure, network and server environments, modern ITSM tools, and core systems such as ERP, CMS, DAM, and CRM. 

  • Working knowledge of ITIL principles, cybersecurity risk, PCI DSS or NIST-aligned governance, enterprise architecture, and technology roadmap planning. 

  • A structured, analytical approach to risk assessment, problem solving, ambiguity, and change. 

  • Experience in media, publishing, or a similarly complex multi-business-unit environment is an asset.
