Job Description

Metroland Media’s Press Plant is currently providing an opportunity for a full-time position as an Assistant Operations Manager. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position will be responsible for the general operations, in addition to the supervision of all employees. 

  • Responsible for proper training of all Supervisors, Crew Chiefs, Press helpers and other positions within the facility 
  • Create, implement and manage strategies to meet and exceed YTD performance goals and objectives as well as maximize market potential in all business segments and divisions. 
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities to attain and exceed revenue targets. 
  • To oversee and manage the department to ensure that the day to day operations run efficiently and effectively.
  • To determine Departmental policies, procedures and standards, and ensure that all are being adhered to.
  • To conduct short and long-term strategic planning to develop plans to increase the profitability of the Division.
  • Complete and enforce all duties in accordance with our Health and Safety policies and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6+ years of print operations with demonstrated leadership.
  • Must be flexible in hours to overlap shifts or be available for alternate shift as needed.
  • Capable of taking initiative and can work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with team members and management.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide a productive team.
  • Comfortable working with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and competent listener.
  • Ability to excel and make quality decisions in a fast-paced, deadline driven and demanding environment with strong attention to detail.
  • Effective organizational skills, ability to manage time and prioritize tasks appropriately.
  • Must be able to work in an unpredictable and changing environment.
  • Ability to motivate team 
  • Demonstrated experience in problem solving and continuous improvement of processes.
