Job Description

Are you a high energy individual seeking new challenges? Are you a person who is independent and enjoys networking and relationship building? Charged with servicing and developing a client base, the Account Executive is focused on continuously increasing sales revenue and maintaining strong business relationships with top local companies. The individual is accountable for acquiring new accounts through various strategies including generating leads, networking with key decision makers and active researching. They are also responsible for introducing and selling innovative marketing solutions to local small and medium-sized businesses while achieving aggressive revenue targets. Reporting to the General Manager this position will reside at our Toronto Star location. This position will provide candidates, the opportunity to be part of one of Canada's leading community media companies.

  • Responsible for introducing and selling innovative marketing solutions to medium and large sized businesses while achieving aggressive revenue target.
  • Combine first-hand experience with industry insights to build effective, customized media campaigns.
  • Review campaign performance and offer optimization insights for growth with confidence.
  • Strategically prospect new business opportunities.
  • Continuously increase sales revenue while maintaining strong business relationships with top local and national companies.
  • Data sales experience:
    • Know and understand clients, their habits, their needs, their behaviours, and lifestyle preferences
    • Successful track record in sales with an experienced data company essential.
  • Nurturing a client or prospect through the media buying journey:
    • Guide them through multiple media channels (digital, print, distribution, ++) in an authoritative way that is not about the sale but providing a best-in-class partnership experience.
  • Identify market trends and influencing factors that affect your client's customers.
  • Utilizes strong persuasive skills to access decision maker in a timely manner:
  • Analyze online customer behaviour to take a proactive and consumer-centric approach to sales.
  • Demonstrated pipeline sales and CRM mastery:
    • Track record of being a peer leader in a CRM platform to maximize opportunities with existing client base as well as growing client base.
  • Creates in-depth proposals for prospective advertisers and provide solutions through compelling business cases.
  • Provides customers with creative and effective advertising solutions and will play a key role in the overall success of our organization.
  • As part of this role, you will be required to handle credit card information. Metroland Media is PCI compliant company, and requires people in this role to take PCI training to handle cards in a safe and compliant manner.

Qualifications

  • Motivated self-starter with discipline to work independently to achieve sales targets.
  • Sales experience with a proven history of achieving and surpassing sales targets and an unprecedented drive for results.
  • Certification in Google, Facebook and IAB is an asset.
  • Must have a Degree or Diploma in Business or in a related field.
  • An exceptional presenter - must have an expert level of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience in problem solving and strategic thinking with the ability to make quality decisions in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Digital Media expertise a must, with an understanding of print and distribution.
  • Superior customer service and relationship building skills including having the ability to placate challenging and demanding clients.
  • Required to have the ability to be coachable, open-minded and a willingness to be trained and developed.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment, able to adjust quickly to change.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Work, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Salesforce or other compatible CRM experience a plus.
  • Valid Driver's licence and reliable vehicle.
