Job Description

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Reporting to the CEO, Parcel Services, you will support the CEO of Parcel Services in daily strategic and operational business decision making
  • You will be a key member of the Parcel Services senior leadership team, working with the Head of Parcel Services, Director of Sales and our Operations leadership, in growing a successful new business
  • Complete financial modeling and analysis of business decisions and opportunities
  • Review rate structure, pricing, and ongoing profitability of the business, including sales contracts and operating contracts
  • Prepare the annual operating and capital budgets
  • Prepare regular operating forecasts
  • Prepare quarterly reports
  • Ensure that all expenses are properly reflected in the financial statements
  • Prepare and review monthly variance analysis
  • Responsible for general oversight and primary sponsorship of the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software
  • Liaise with both internal and external legal counsel to work through and complete any required legal contracts
  • Support merger & acquisition work and processes
  • Interact and coordinate internally with those working in day-to-day accounting support functions (A/P, A/R, etc.)

Qualifications

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting or Finance
  • Accounting designation (CPA) or equivalent
  • Position requires at least 5 years management experience in financial planning & analysis
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of professional accounting practices
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality
  • Detail oriented but able to see the bigger picture
  • Strong analytical skills - having the ability to analyze financial and operational information
  • Strong problem solving skills.  Proven ability to make good decisions based on experience and judgment
  • Familiarity with month-end, quarter-end and year-end processes and achieving tight deadlines
  • Previous hands-on budget and forecast experience
  • Ability to set priorities and coordinate several people and concurrent projects to their completion
  • Possesses business acumen
  • Build and maintain effective relationships, act with internal and external customers in mind
  • Results oriented, committed to self-development
  • Experience in finance software implementation an asset
