We are seeking an Area Sales Manager* Italy who will be responsible for driving and managing all sales activities within the Italian market.
The Area Sales Manager will play a key role in developing the Waste Recycling and Sorting business, ensuring structured sales execution, strong customer relationships, and alignment with TOMRA’s global strategy.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Implement and execute a systematic sales management approach across the assigned territory, in close collaboration with the Regional Director Italy.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute all sales activities in Italy, ensuring consistent pipeline development and order intake.
- Manage sales of capital equipment solutions for Waste Recycling and Sorting, with typical project values ranging from EUR 200,000 to EUR 1.5 million per order.
- Own and manage the area sales budget, including forecasting and performance tracking.
- Ensure effective internal coordination of processes and structures, working closely with Global Service, Test Center, Project Management, and Business Development.
- Develop, coach, and collaborate with the global sales organization, contributing to best-practice sharing and continuous improvement.
- Execute TOMRA’s overall company strategy and actively support the Business Development Manager in evaluating and developing new business opportunities.
- Represent TOMRA at local and international exhibitions, conferences, and industry events.
Qualifiche
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience within the waste recycling or waste processing industry.
- Proven experience in selling large capital equipment, managing long sales cycles, and/or selling complex technical solutions—ideally within the recycling sector.
- Demonstrated experience managing key account customers and complex stakeholder environments.
- Background in working within an international, matrix-driven organization.
- Strong commercial acumen with a customer-oriented, results-driven, and entrepreneurial mindset.
- Proven track record in successful contract negotiation, with excellent communication, listening, and analytical skills.
- Genuine passion for technology, sustainability, and people.
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline.
Additional Skills & Requirements
- Strong appreciation for cultural diversity and willingness to travel extensively; the role is Italy-based.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Italian and English; additional languages are a plus.
- Ability to inspire and engage others, communicate a clear vision, and actively involve colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
