Job Description

About the Role

The Customer Project Manager plays a key role in delivering TOMRA’s recycling solutions to customers across Japan and, occasionally, the wider APAC region. You will manage projects throughout their full lifecycle — from technical support in the pre‑sales phase to project release, installation, commissioning, and final acceptance.

You act as the central interface between customers, agents, plant builders, and TOMRA’s internal teams, ensuring that all technical, operational, and logistical aspects of each project are executed to the highest standard. Your work directly contributes to customer satisfaction and the successful deployment of TOMRA’s advanced sorting technologies.

What you will do

  • Manage technical and operational projects for metal and waste recycling customers in Japan.
  • Support the pre‑sales phase with technical specifications, sorting flow design, and complex plant layouts.
  • Ensure correct sorter configurations are released for production and that all project information is delivered accurately and on time.
  • Prepare technical documentation packages, including sorter drawings and site preparation requirements.
  • Organize and facilitate project meetings and provide clear reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance to customers, agents, and plant builders throughout project execution.
  • Coordinate closely with Production and Logistics to ensure on‑time delivery.
  • Support the Service team during installation, commissioning, and optimization.
  • Secure final project acceptance in collaboration with Service and Sales.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project processes and information flow.

Qualifications

What you bring to the team

  • Native Japanese speaker with strong English communication skills.
  • Proven experience managing customer communication and complex technical projects (5+ years).
  • Strong coordination, organizational, and stakeholder‑management skills.
  • Self‑driven, structured, and comfortable handling complex tasks.
  • Able to read mechanical drawings and electrical wiring diagrams.
  • Proficient in MS Office and digital platforms such as ERP/CRM.
  • Comfortable working in waste treatment environments (dust, odor).
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally (approx. 50%).

Your Background

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or a related technical field (electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, waste treatment, etc.).
  • Experience working with technical teams, customers, and external partners.
  • Understanding of industrial processes and complex plant configurations.
  • Driver's licence required
