Job Description
Legal Counsel will support TOMRA’s North American Collection business, which sells recycling equipment and operates recycling processing facilities and bottle redemption centers.
Reporting to the General Counsel, this position works closely with all members of the Legal Department and will handle a variety of legal matters in support of the company’s broader enterprise. The successful candidate will possess a practical, business-oriented mindset, emotional intelligence, and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, ensuring smooth collaboration across teams and navigating complex legal challenges with ease. The ideal candidate will also be intellectually curious and eager to expand their expertise across both legal and business areas.
Responsibilities
- Review, draft and negotiate different types of contracts, vendor agreements, and other legal documents, particularly within a supply chain, manufacturing or transportation context
- Provide clear advice and counsel to all levels of the company, building trust with the operations arm of the business. While providing advice, proactively collaborate with individuals and departments throughout the organization, from front line employees in the plants and out in the field through middle management.
- Assist in management of the company’s real estate portfolio and corporate governance
- Assist General Counsel with compliance and privacy issues
- Handle pre-litigation dispute resolution (e.g. demand letters, internal reviews)
- Assist with and advise on a variety of Legal Department matters, including performing research, privacy, compliance, real estate issues, employment law, OSHA, etc.
- General support of the Legal Department
- Utilizing contract/matter management system on a day-to-day basis, and accurately inputting and analyzing contract data
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- JD from an accredited law school and admission in and good standing to a state bar. NY and/or CT bars preferred
- 3+ years of relevant experience preferably in an in-house role.
- Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts
- Experience with company matters within a transportation and manufacturing setting
- Familiarity with contract or matter management systems/technology
- Fluency with online legal research tools, such as Practical Law
- Ability to adapt work style across all levels of an organization from front line employees to executives
- Analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to solve problems proactively and with business acumen
- Consistent attention to detail and the ability to effectively prioritize and timely produce high quality work product on tight deadlines is essential
- A team player with an open and positive personality who is willing to share and communicate information effectively while maintaining high levels of integrity, confidentiality, and discretion

Additional Information
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $110,000 to $120,000, based on experience, plus discretionary performance based-bonus. The range and bonus listed is just one part of the TOMRA package for employees, which includes health insurance, life and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, dependent care savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off.
