Job Description

As a Recycling Engineer in development of sensor-based sorting applications, you will optimize and test products and technical prototypes of sorting machines which use deep learning technologies. Also, the maintenance in the sense of optimizing the performance of the installed base will be part of this role.

You will work in a dynamic, interdisciplinary team where a strong cooperation with other working groups is required.

Your task

  • Use the sorting platform and tools developed in the deep learning group to investigate possible applications.
  • Generate suitable training data (getting samples from customers, record data, label data) to set up robust detection systems.
  • Give input to software developers about bugs and missing features.
  • Service optimization and testing of products and technical prototypes on customer site worldwide.
  • Test new products and software tools.
  • Train production and service staff on new machines.
  • Commissioning of deep learning machines for established product lines.
  • Track and optimize performance of installed base.
  • Collect relevant information about planned applications from all involved departments and customers.

Qualifications

  • Master or diploma degree in Waste Management, Environmental Engineering, or another relevant technical field, OR equivalent work experience demonstrated to be comparable.
  • Good knowledge of waste recycling processes. 
  • Knowledge of the specifics of the metals segment will be an advantage.
  • Interest and willingness to expand knowledge in sensor-based technology, electronics, and mechanical design.
  • Ability to use IT systems with confidence.
  • Fluent English, German is a plus.
  • Familiarity with project management.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Willing to travel globally to create and maintain the installed base of deep learning machines.
