OUR ROLE

TOMRA’s sensor-based solutions play a key role in optimizing resource productivity, particularly in the fields of waste management and recycling, where sensor-based technology can be used to increase precision and streamline processes.

To achieve the ambitious aim of a circular economy, it is necessary to employ state-of-the-art approaches that push boundaries, and TOMRA’s reverse vending and waste sorting solutions help to achieve this by recovering materials and providing valuable insight into the composition of these materials.

The result is a greater understanding of where efficiencies can be made to minimize costs and waste, and better utilize resources within a closed loop – further mitigating the impact of CO2 and other emissions and inefficiencies.

The new "Software Developer - Digital Reycling" can be located in one of these countries: 

Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Slovakia or England. You need to live in these countries, so we can give you a country-specific employment contract. 

• The focus of this position as Software Developer is enabling TOMRA’s sensor-based sorting and analysis system to produce, expose, consume, and communicate relevant information and data to and from the cloud platform TOMRA Insight.
• You will work in a dynamic team where a strong cooperation with other working groups is required.
• Your daily job consists of development, optimization, maintenance, and documentation of relevant code.
• Some travelling will be required.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Development and test of software for new sensor-based sorting machines, enabling them to produce, expose, consume, and communicate relevant information and data to and from the cloud platform TOMRA Insight.
• Extend, optimize, and verify existing software and communication protocols.
• Work on issues reported by service, digital, or production department.
• Cross link to other departments (electrical design, service, production, digital).
• Give support to colleagues from service, digital, and production department.
• Contribute ideas about improvement possibilities (quality/ efficiency).
• Produce technical documentation

• Requires a Bachelor or a Master degree in computer science or related field, or 5+ years of professional experience.
• Excellent programming skills in C#.
• C++ skills is a plus.
• Software engineering skills.
• Frontend experience is a plus.
• experience in linux-based environments.
• Solid understanding of interfaces between hardware, software, and cloud
• Exposure to MS Azure, microservice architectures, Internet of Things, or other cloud platforms is a plus.
• experience in REST/gRPC is a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Good command of written and spoken English.
• At least basic knowledge of German.
• Willingness to learn and shape the future every day.
