Job Description

As a Lead Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for line management of the Platform Engineers, support of our on-premise data centre and cloud environments, and driving best practice for the adoption of modern infrastructure delivery techniques.

As a Lead Platform Engineer, we are looking for someone to:

  • Provide line management and technical mentoring for Platform Engineering teams
  • Curate training plans and competency frameworks
  • Own of hybrid on-premise and cloud technology infrastructure
  • Support platform engineers to deliver the following services:-
  • Technical support for all existing and new technologies within both cloud and on-premise environments
  • Implement, develop and support the desktop, including laptops & tablets, server, SAN and software infrastructure estate ensuring test and role out plans are signed off before implementation
  • Monitor and maintain all environments to ensure agreed system availability , performance and security is maintained
  • Provide technical knowledge, expertise and consultancy on platform engineering work
  • Lifecycle management of technology platforms
  • Analyse incident trend information to drive change to processes, procedures, systems and services

Qualifications

Essential

  • Management of both on premise and cloud infrastructure
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to working
  • Experience of working in an enterprise environment
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft infrastructure platforms and tooling
  • Excellent understanding of security and lifecycle management
  • Experience in management of a Vmware virtualized environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Backup Systems
  • Strong understanding of Networking concepts

Desirable

  • Usage of pipelines to manage control of production environments, including usage of Infrastructure as code platforms
