Toast Ale is a craft beer company based in New York City that is on a mission to prove that the alternative to food waste is pint-sized and delicious. We brew award-winning beer in the Hudson Valley, New York, using fresh surplus bread that would otherwise go to waste, and we donate 100% of our profits to charities fighting food waste.

Job Description

Are you an enthusiastic person who loves craft beer AND sustainability? Toast is looking for a team of Brand Ambassadors to help us with a Whole Foods promotional blitz this November. For any students interested in learning more about the business and operations behind Toast Ale, we can integrate the internship opportunity with school credit if applicable.

Internship timeline: November 4th - November 24th

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Marketing Associate weekly.

  • Attend at least 2 sampling sessions a week.

  • Talk and represent our brand to customers in stores.

  • Pour samples for customers.

  • Add takeaways to our questionnaire and use Slack (digital platform) to update our Toast team about how the sampling went.

  • NO coffee, dry cleaning runs! 

  • It is unpaid; we offer class credit when applicable. 

  • We offer prizes ($).

  • Undergraduate/graduate students looking for a sustainable, B-Corp and local businesses to gain experience and to add to your resume.  

  • A professional who wants to volunteer their time to support a fast-growing social enterprise. Or, you are a fan of the beer and you want to join in and support the blitz.

  • Overall, you are someone who wants to learn about our business model, our mission or about the craft beer industry!

Qualifications

 

  • MUST BE 21 OR OLDER TO APPLY. 

  • People Skills. As the position is customer-facing, being able to interact with people is an important skill. 

  • Excellent at working remotely via Slack and Email.

  • Proficient with Google Sheets.

  • Strong written communication skills.

  • Comfortable commuting to different stores in NYC.

  • Experience with sampling and customer service is a plus.

  • Outgoing, sociable and friendly. 

  • Enthusiastic and independent. 

  • Must be available to work on Thursday's and Friday's from 4-7pm and/or Saturday’s 12-3pm out in different stores in the city.
