Job Description

Tiverton is seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development professional with a track record of originating loans and fostering business relationships within the industry. This role offers an exciting opportunity to drive growth and expand our presence in the agricultural sector while providing valuable financial support to farmers and agribusinesses. 

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Client forward position to foster and build presence in key production regions 
  • Engage in business development activities to identify and evaluate potential credit investments  
  • Assist the team with analyzing and conducting due diligence and underwriting on private investments (both credit and equity)  
  • Perform and develop industry/sector research and analysis 
  • Prepare regular reports and updates on sales activities, pipeline status, and market trends  
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including underwriters and loan officers, to facilitate the loan application process and ensure timely funding 
  • Represent Tiverton at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote the Tiverton brand and network with potential clients and partners 
  • Provide exceptional customer service throughout the loan lifecycle, building long-term relationships and fostering client loyalty 
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive developments to inform business decisions and maintain a competitive edge 
  • Assist in the preparation of investment memorandums, present recommendations, and due diligence findings to internal committees and investors 
  • Support fundraising initiatives and investor needs 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, agriculture, or related field; advanced degree preferred 
  • 5+ years of experience in agricultural finance, with a focus on loan origination and business development 
  • Strong relationship management, sales, and business development skills 
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding targets and driving revenue growth  
  • Strong understanding of agricultural lending principles, financial analysis, and risk assessment 
  • Ability to comprehend and negotiate complex and sensitive transactions 
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and credibility with diverse stakeholders 
  • Ability to work both independently and as a productive member of transaction teams 
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills 
  • Willingness to travel within the Pacific Northwest (OR, WA & ID) region as needed
