Job Description

Timmons Group is currently seeking a Software Delivery Project Manager to work with our Enterprise Solutions Group in our Richmond, VA office location. We are open to relocation for the right candidate.

The Software Delivery Project Manager shepherds the project delivery process and practice for custom application development, data insights, and strategic planning/roadmapping projects. A Software Delivery Project Manager will utilize their consulting and technical expertise as well as agile experience to support our clients with the implementation of technology solutions through the entire software development life cycle from discovery through implementation and handoff to support. 

The Software Delivery Project Manager works with our clients to understand their business activities, workflows, and needs on multiple levels (from a technical, functional, practical, and end-user perspective).  The Software Delivery Project Manager must be a highly engaging individual who will work with creative and technical team members to plan, develop, test, and deliver successful solutions through an iterative methodology. The Software Delivery Project Manager works with project teams to solve problems, who take ownership of tasks, and are willing to ask questions and share opinions.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Manage client relationships 
  • Plan and manage changes to project scope, resources and timeline 
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients 
  • Collaborate with Business Analyst to define the scope of work, business requirements and project deliverables by understanding client needs 
  • Work with project team members to identify work required to achieve project deliverables 
  • Prepare project timeline of project milestones and deliverables 
  • Identify resources required to achieve project deliverables 
  • Create, maintain and report project status to teams and to stakeholders 
  • Plan and coordinate project teams and scrum ceremonies 
  • Manage project risks and issues 
  • Provide support and manage request intake by asking clients specific questions to capture details about bugs and/or business goals/requirements for changes or feature enhancements 
  • Coordinate the planning and execution of tasks and projects 
  • Manage and communicate release cadences for our support clients 
  • Ensure quality standards and profitability targets for project are met  
  • Provide superior customer service and ensure all tasks and projects are managed to client satisfaction 
  • Manage client expectations with estimated costs and turnaround time 
  • Manage and track support / hosting agreements, as needed 
  • Facilitate and coordinate project transition to the support phase with delivery team and support clients 
  • Assist with proposals and RFP responses 
  • Manage billable projects to reach utilization goal 
  • Serve as Business Analyst and Project Manager on small to medium budget/scope discoveries and projects 
  • Provide mentoring/coaching to junior staff 

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • CSM and/or CSPO required  
  • 3-8 years' experience in Agile Software Delivery 
  • Experience in fish and wildlife or natural resources preferred 
  • Creative, open minded, and organized 
  • Professional services experience strongly desired 
  • Able to provide direct, constructive feedback to both teams and individuals 
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize workload efficiently juggling multiple project teams and clients  
  • Able to delegate tasks and provide direction as needed 
  • Able to constantly gather feedback about our project delivery process, evaluate it, and incorporate change based upon it if needed
