Job Description

We are currently seeking a Project Engineer I/II to join our Stormwater Management Group in our Virginia Beach, Virginia office location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • Work with internal team and clients on drainage and flooding issues and coastal resiliency, BMP retrofits, and TMDL and MS4 programmatic requirements
  • Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilizes computers in order to solve problems
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to investigate storm drainage issues and support stormwater management designs
  • Provide engineering assistance for the design of: drainage improvement projects, best management practices (BMPs); low impact development (LID) solutions; urban retrofit alternatives; and other stormwater and resilient infrastructure related projects
  • Conduct background research on technical issues and write clear reports and memorandums to convey project results to our clients
  • Prepare specifications materials through the use of research and manufacturing catalogs to specify materials, installation, inspection and payment of items specific to a project
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates
  • Complete field observation, inspection and data collection duties as directed
  • Communicate with client staff and internal design team as directed by senior engineering staff

Qualifications

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related degree
  • 1 to 4 years of experience in Stormwater Civil Engineering is ideal
  • Familiarity with urban stormwater hydrology preferred
  • EIT required
  • Strong working knowledge of CADD and/or Civil 3D software is required (Civil 3D preferred)
  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS preferred
  • Must be dependable, responsible and have good written/verbal communication skills
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
