Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Director of Innovation and Remote Sensing Technology to join our Richmond, VA office location for the specific purpose of assisting the firm to leverage all available technologies to the highest extent practicable and to fully build out our remote sensing capabilities under a single umbrella. This position will work closely with other Division Managers and Group Leaders to understand their workflows and challenges, as well as Survey and Renewable Energy managers to better develop our field data acquisition processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • Works collaboratively and effectively with managers within the company to implement the latest technologies including 3D modeling, laser scanning, remote sensing, photogrammetry and LiDAR in order to enhance our current services and develop new services and revenue streams
  • Coordinates project scheduling
  • Hire and manage staff as project workloads increase
  • Attends “kick-off” and interim project status meetings with the project team to discuss tasks, schedules and budgets and ensure successful project delivery
  • Regularly monitors with Project Manager project schedules and budgets throughout the project life
  • Responsible for ensuring formal Project Reviews are conducted on all projects within the group
  • Works with Project Manager to determine if a contract needs to be amended and immediately communicates the changes to the Division Manager for concurrence
  • May serve as a Project Manager for selected clients/projects
  • Works with Project Manager to document the performance of project team members
  • Assist accounting in timely invoicing and collection of fees
  • Maintains contact with the client after the project is completed and cross markets such other services as appropriate
  • Assures project correspondence is complete and appropriate and that established lines of communication are maintained with the client, contractors, sub consultants and team members
  • Performs business development to further existing client relationships and develop new ones
  • Meets regularly with Division Managers, Group Leaders and their assigns to evaluate the existing way of doing things and seek out ways to improve efficiencies through collaboration, software and hardware enhancements

Qualifications

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree or equivalent experience in IT or related field
  • 5+ years’ experience utilizing civil engineering and land surveying technologies such as 3D modeling, LiDAR and Photogrammetry
  • Experienced as a project manager for major clients
  • A demonstrated ability to manage the schedule and budget for multiple projects at the same time
  • Experience supervising the technical work of others
  • Excellent presentation, written communication, planning and organization skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Exceptional coaching, counseling and leadership skills
