Join us an Assistant Logistics Officer on a 12 Months Fixed Term Contract to perform accurate and timeous receiving and issuing of standard and non-standard stock items that may be on or off the contract

Thungela Resources [Thungela means “to ignite” in isiZulu] is a leading South African thermal coal business, focused exclusively on thermal coal production. It is one of the largest pure-play producers and exporters of thermal coal in South Africa based on aggregate coal reserves and marketable coal production. Thungela focuses on exporting its thermal coal portfolio mainly to the Indian, Asian, Southeast Asian, Middle East and North African markets.
Job Description
More of your responsibilities will include:
- Perform inventory counting as scheduled
- Perform accurate labelling, binning and stacking
- Reconfigures warehouse layout as determined by Logistics Supervisor
- Report stock-outs
- Performs accurate receiving &issuing of material
- Picks items and places in delivery area and updates ERP system
- Safely move material as required by means of forklift, LDV, overhead crane, slings etc
- General administration
- Provides an afterhours service when required
- Perform pre-start checks on mechanical equipment
- Perform SHE inspections as directed and reports non-conformance to the Site SC Supervisor
This role is in the Supply Chain department at C1 level and reports to the Site Supply Chain Supervisor.
Qualifications
- Grade 12
- Studying towards a relevant Diploma/ Degree (Advantageous)
Experience
- SAP/ ERP Data Capturing experience advantageous
- Basic receiving and issuing experience within a stores environment within the mining industry advantageous
- Computer literacy in MS Office essential
- Extensive knowledge on Excel
Additional Information
- Must be prepared to do standby duties as and when required essential
- Valid driver’s license
- Good written and verbal communications skills
