Job Description

Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, this role is responsible for assisting the Quality Control and Assurance Team in ongoing tasks monitoring and overseeing quality assurance standards, policies and procedures within the business, to support business improvement and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verification of inspection results and maintain detailed quality records.  
  • Assist in the implementation of Quality Control work and practices like calibration tasks.
  • Help preparation certification documentation and procedures under supervision of QA Manager.
  • Assistant to the team for preparation project specific Inspection Test Plans (ITP’s), Quality Plans and Manufacturers Data Records (MDR’s) and other prescribed project deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Welding, or Materials Engineering
  • Understanding of steel manufacturing processes like welding and quality control issues 
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 9001, AS 1554.1) 
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software especially Excel & Word (Must)

 

Key Result Areas:

 

  • Quality systems and procedures are strictly adhered to.
  • Ongoing Accreditation of ASME, ISO9001 systems and national Standards.
  • OHS systems and procedures are strictly adhered to.
  • Timeframes within which programs are completed are in accordance with program (contract) requirements.
  • Reporting & record keeping. All project reporting is timely and accurate. saved in project folders.
  • Continuous Improvement. Ongoing contribution and development towards continuous improvement of procedures and systems.
  • Integrity. Ensure relationships with internal and external stakeholders are not compromised, dealings are fair and transparent and in the best interest of Thornton Engineering.
