The Thomas County Road Department is responsible for 113.8 miles of county gravel roads, 118.3 miles of county asphalt roads, 47 miles of roads in East Hale Township.

Job Description

HELP WANTED:  The Thomas County Highway Department is accepting applications for one full-time employee.  The work will consist of maintaining county and township roads, flagging, installing signs, driving truck, snow removal, etc.  Normal work hours will be from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Must be a high school graduate or have GED equivalent and hold a valid CDL or be able to obtain one within 30 days of employment.  Thomas County Highway Department maintains a safe work environment; therefore, drug and alcohol testing will be required.  Starting pay is $16.00 per hour plus benefits with a possible increase after a six-month training period.  Application deadline is September 09, 2022 at 5:00 p.m.  Applications are available in the Highway Department Office located at the Thomas County Courthouse 300 N Court Ave, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. until noon and 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Thomas County Highway Department is an equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age and hold a valid driver’s license.  Thomas County Highway Department maintains a safe work environment; therefore, drug pre-employment testing will be required.
