The Thomas County Road Department is responsible for 113.8 miles of county gravel roads, 118.3 miles of county asphalt roads, 47 miles of roads in East Hale Township.
The Thomas County Highway Department is accepting applications for one full time employee. The work will consist of maintaining county and township roads, flagging, installing signs, mowing, etc. Work is carried out following prescribed policies, rules, and procedures. Normal work hours will be from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday from the beginning of June through mid-August. Must be able to work weekends during inclement weather and the asphalt season. Starting pay is $14.00 per hour plus benefits with a possible increase after a six-month training period. Application deadline is September 22, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. Applications are available in the Highway Department Office located in the basement of the Thomas County Courthouse, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. until noon and 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
