Thenamaris invites high caliber professionals to apply for the position of IT Systems Engineer within the Information Technology department.

The IT Systems Engineer is a key member of the IT Infrastructure team, supporting systems for both Thenamaris-managed vessels and company offices. Responsibilities include installing and configuring IT hardware and software (servers, firewalls, switches, PCs, printers, operating systems), monitoring system performance and reliability, and interacting with shore-based personnel as well as seafarers to address their IT issues. The role proactively identifies, and addresses cybersecurity risks, implements safeguards and corrective actions with the Information Security Officer, and collaborates with the Security Operations Center. The role also works closely with the Technical department on the vessels’ IT/OT convergence. The IT Systems Engineer provides first-line troubleshooting, escalates issues to external providers when needed, travels to vessels for installations and maintenance, and ensures Masters and Chief Engineers are familiar with company IT systems.

The position is permanent, is based in Athens (Vouliagmeni), Greece, and requires on-site presence; remote work is not available.

The ideal candidate is an open-minded professional who enjoys staying up to date with technology, brings forward new ideas, and drives improvements, while understanding that results come through collaboration. The following characteristics and skills are required:

• Technical diploma or university degree in Information Systems Management, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in IT infrastructure roles, with a strong background in networking and cyber security, preferably with Fortinet solutions (Fortigate, FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager, FortiEDR). Relevant certifications such as NSE, CEH, Network+, CCNA, ISC2 CC are advantageous but not strictly required
• Prior experience in a similar role within the in-house IT department of a ship management company is considered a strong asset
• Excellent customer support skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
