Job Description

The Telecommunications and Radio Navigation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, supporting, maintaining, and ensuring proper functioning of the telecommunication and radio navigation systems and equipment onboard vessels. This role contributes to the newbuild specifications process for the equipment and ensures the streamlined execution of projects aimed at sustaining and enhancing the operational lifetime of these systems. Ensuring the reliability and cybersecurity of the Operational Technology (OT) systems is a core responsibility. Additionally, collaboration with the company's IT department within the framework of IT/OT convergence and optimizing vessel telecommunication systems and industrial networks is expected.

Qualifications

  • MSc in Electrical & Computer Engineering or Computer Engineering & Informatics or Informatics & Telecommunications or Radioelectrology & Electronics or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a technical role entailing telecommunications and computer engineering knowledge.
  • Solid knowledge of Radio Navigation and/or Telecommunications systems including Satellite Communication and Wireless Communication systems.
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols and interfaces (Modbus TCP, NMEA, Profinet, Ethernet IP, etc.) and IoT systems will be considered a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking (wired and wireless LAN, VPN, VLAN).
  • Familiarity with Industrial Control systems (PLC, HMI, SCADA) is an asset
  • Knowledge of Cybersecurity best practices for Operational Technology systems.
  • Basic programming skills: Scripting, Python.
  • Competent in software tools and environments such as Office 365, Wireshark, IoT protocols, and operating systems (Microsoft, Linux). Solid project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in English, both oral and written.
  • Flexibility for traveling.
