Job Description
Here’s what you’ll do:
- This person must have good general knowledge of laboratory safety and procedures and must be willing to learn
- This person must be able to read and comprehend calibration instructions and perform routine calibrations on equipment
- This individual will be responsible for performing sanitation inspections on the processing line and facility and documenting findings on the forms
- This individual will be responsible for performing scheduled checks on the plant looking for problems in or on the processing line and documenting parameters outlined on the paperwork
- This person is responsible for performing routine sample analysis required by the lab and entering data into the computer system. These include, but are not limited to: Brix, %Acid, Ratio, pH, %Oil, Flavor, Color, Vitamin C, Sulfites, % Mold, Viscosity, Defects, Retail Packaging Analysis, vacuum, free chlorine, retail code and batch authorizations, cap torque and % Pulp. Non-routine analyses include, but are not limited to Sodium, Naringin, Light Filth, Quick Fiber, JBT System analysis (including quick fibers and oils), and pulp wash and oil recovery analysis.
- This person is required to collect raw fruit samples from the processing line and perform Brix, %acid, ratio and calculating several aspects of the fruit.
- This employee will be required to pull product/by-product samples from the production line for analysis
- This position may require an individual to retrieve product samples from tankers or drums, packaging and ingredients and then bring them to the lab for analysis
- This position will be required to inspect, seal and ship/receive tankers being shipped or received to/from the facility
- This person may also be asked to run errands when needed
- Availability to work rotating shifts
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
Here’s what you’ll bring to the table:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, SDS, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
- Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. Data entry skills are also required.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- FOOD SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: The employee shall take all reasonable measures and precautions to ensure compliance with 21CFR 117
- Disease Control: Any employee who, by medical examination or supervisory observation, is shown to have, or appears to have, an illness, open lesion, including boils, sores, or infected wounds, or any other abnormal source of microbial contamination by which there is a reasonable possibility of food, food-contact surfaces, or food packaging materials becoming contaminated, shall be excluded from any operations which may be expected to result in such contamination until the condition is corrected.
- Cleanliness: All employees working in direct contact with food, food-contact surfaces, and food-packaging materials shall conform to hygienic practices while on duty to the extent necessary to protect against contamination of food. Be aware of and comply with current good manufacturing practices regarding; proper food handling techniques, food-protection principles, the danger of poor personal hygiene and unsanitary practices
