Neptune Pacific Direct Line (NPDL) is the leading shipping company connecting Asia, Australia and NZ to the Pacific.  We are experiencing a period of significant growth, building capacity and capability across our network.  We operate 10 containerships, moving +240k TEU across various ports in 16 countries, in partnership with Maersk, CMA/ANL and PIL.  NPDL is part of The Wonderful Company headquartered in the USA (including Fiji Water).

Part of NPDL, Container Repairs and Sales (CRS) provides full empty container services.  In this role, you will be repairing shipping containers to meet industry standards in a systematic, cost effective and efficient way to meet operational timelines.  We are currently looking for someone to lead our Repair team.

Job Description

What you will be doing:

In this role you will be overseeing the repair and maintenance of containers, managing the washing and cleaning process of containers, and ensuring that all equipment and tools are properly maintained and in good working condition.

You will also:

  • Monitor stock levels of materials and spare parts, ordering as necessary to avoid disruptions.
  • Provide hands on support to staff on the ground – time on tools, leading by example.
  • Liaise with other team leaders to ensure timely turn arounds of work bays.
  • Ensure robust maintenance plans are in place and are followed.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality control in all repair and wash functions.
  • Conduct regular inspections of completed work to ensure it meets company standards.
  • Monitor and ensure KPI targets are met and communicated to the depot manager.
  • Ensure all repair activities are conducted in compliance with company health and safety policies.
  • Conduct morning toolbox team meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records of all repair and wash activities.
  • Ensure proper documentation and reporting of any incidents, accidents, or near-misses.

You are someone with the ability to assist and provide training/coaching to staff members, as well as managing their timekeeping, attendance, and performance records.

Qualifications

As a crucial member of our team, you will bring the following:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience running a team in a workshop, manufacturing or industrial sector.
  • Hand on experience with welding and/or fabrication.
  • The ability to work well in a team and an ability to lead by example.
  • Strong attention to detail ensuring repairs are done accurately and to high standards. 
  • Fantastic organisational and time management skills to meet (and exceed) depot timeframes and keeping the depot running smoothly while maintaining productivity.
  • The ability to prioritise your workload, staying focused and organised in a busy environment.
  • Willing to take on a variety of tasks as needed.
  • Ability to prioritise health and safety procedures to ensure a safe work environment.

You are a self-starter with a strong work ethic and a can-do attitude.  Prior experience in container repairs is highly valued, someone who can bring relevant skills and the motivation to excel in this role.

You will also have the ability to pass Ministry of Justice, ACC checks and a drug and alcohol test as part of our recruitment process. Hours of Work:

This role is based in our Panmure location.  A minimum of 40 hours a week Monday to Friday between the hours of 6.00am – 6.00pm. Flexibility to work overtime to meet operational requirements will be required. Rostered Saturdays 7.00am – 1.00pm. Great overtime rates (time and a half) offered!
