Job Description

Here is some of what you will be doing:

Customer Service:

  • Manage the booking process for sea freight imports and exports, including documentation, invoicing, and notifications.
  • Maintain accurate customer databases for smooth operations.
  • Track and analyze customer data to ensure we meet targets.
  • Advise customers on cargo requirements.
  • Coordinate cargo flow with consignees, transport, and regional authorities.
  • Update relevant teams on vessel movements and oversee clearance with Port Authorities.

Sales Support:

  • Provide sales reports and statistics.
  • Offer competitive quotes to Australian customers for imports and exports.
  • Support customer visits with the principal.

Operations Support:

  • Prepare and send documents before vessel arrivals.
  • Confirm labor needs with the Operations Manager.
  • Assist with vessel supplies, repairs, and labor arrangements.
  • Keep stakeholders informed on operations and schedules.

Additional Duties:

  • Handle ad hoc tasks as needed.

Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience in fast-paced, regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of import/export sea freight processes.
  • Familiarity with Cargowise or Interport is a plus.
  • Strong work ethic, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and inventory systems.

This is a full-time permanent role based in Norfolk Island.  As you have worked in shipping in the past, you will know a level of flexibility is required at times to work extended hours including weekends, public holidays, etc. In return we offer a challenging and stimulating environment. You will have the right to live and work in Norfolk Island at the time of applying. The successful candidate may be subject to undergo a Police Check and/or Pre-Employment Drug Test.
