La Cocina Shafter is The Wonderful Company’s brand-new café located within the Wonderful Industrial Park, catering to the culinary needs of the company’s employees as well as neighboring tenants in the area. Our mission is to provide fresh, seasonal, and healthy Latin inspired cuisine from California’s rich cultural history. We are committed to providing delicious food, efficient service, and a welcoming atmosphere to enhance the daily experience.

We are in search of a motivated Dishwasher/ Steward to join our team. This position is responsible for the daily cleanliness standards set by Food service Manager. Follows standard operating procedures of the kitchen and public areas. Dishwasher/ Steward must work safe, organized, and follow safety practices. 

The work schedule for this position is Monday - Friday (8:30 AM - 5 PM).

Job Description

  • Aids prep cook and other kitchen staff as needed, especially during peak times
  • Wash a variety of dishes, utensils, and equipment
  • Organize and cleans storage areas
  • Prepares daily production list
  • Sweeps and mops floors and other janitorial work 
  • Sort and removal of trash
  • Loads and unloads trucks that deliver or pick up food and supplies
  • Sets up and clean up for events as needed
  • Operates the industrial dishwasher in a proper and safe manner

Qualifications

  • GED or high school diploma preferred
  • Food Safety, Food handlers training and or certification preferred
  • A commitment to quality service
  • Knowledge of basic cooking and prepping techniques and basic math skills
  • Awareness of local, state, federal health and sanitation laws
  • Understanding proper use and maintenance of major kitchen equipment, including stoves, refrigeration, slice, knives, and dish machine
  • Ability to work in a high-energy and demanding environment
  • Works well with others and is a team player
  • Conversational Spanish is desired but not required
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds

Pay Range: $19.00 - $21.00. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
