Williams & Gosling PTE Limited has a vacancy for a Customer Service Officer to join our Suva Customs Department. The key function and purpose of this role is to assist in the facilitation of clearance of imported good by assisting the Agents in providing correct clearance documents to agents and serves as an intermediary between importers, shipping line, regulators and also the Agents internally.
Job Description
- Receive documents from agents and compile
- Laise with shipping line and track shipment ETA
- Register job and create job number
- Liaising with shipping line for shipping invoice
- Decoding – Tariff classification (if required)
- Liaising with stakeholders for the assessment and release of consignment i.e. MOF/BAF/DOE
- Request for disbursement approvals from Finance based on client trading terms.
- Lodgement of documents to customs for approvals
- Arrangement of payment once D&V is confirmed and approved by customs.
- Liaise with clients for storage of uncleared cargo if clearance takes time.
- Liaise with transport department for cartage of cargo.
- Ensure all payments is collected if it is a COD client.
- Should the need arise assist with the preparation of documents for clients desiring to appeal duty charges imposed by FRCA.
- Prepare weekly summary of jobs completed, cleared, uncleared and transhipments
- Assist delivery clerk with organizing examinations at premises and deliveries.
- Maintain premium customer service delivery.
- Any other tasks requested by immediate supervisor.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Business Customs or Higher Education Diploma in Customs
- 2 years experience in customer service or relevant role
- Relevant experience in a similar role would be an advantage
- Knowledge of Shipping and Logistics Operations.
- Experience in dealing with customs clearance and logistics (preferred)
- Good command of written and spoken English
- Effective problem-solving skills
- Dynamic and energetic individual with an eye for detail
