Williams & Gosling PTE Limited has a vacancy for an Assistant Accountant to join their Suva Team. The key function and purpose of this role is to ensure the transparent and accurate processing of financial information which is reliable and maintained in a professional manner.

Job Description

  • Preparation of monthly financial reports with variance analysis
  • Monthly closing of accounts, posting of journal entries
  • Preparation of monthly balance sheet account reconciliation
  • Weekly bank flow reconciliation and cash flow management
  • Performing stock costing and maintaining stock listing
  • Maintain Fixed Asset register and ensure annual verification of assets
  • Preparation and lodgement of monthly tax compliances
  • Lead yearly external audits and company tax including yearly returns
  • Flexibility to attend to finance related issues outside of normal working hours
  • Job Reconciliation for all department
  • Doing Over & under Accruals and WIP Adjustments
  • Carry out analysis for revenue, cost and overhead codes
  • Processing of job adjustments journal into system
  • Reviewing job PL for discrepancies
  • Extraction gross profit by client report / by department when requested by department managers
  • Assist in checking and approving credit notes and vendor payments when required
  • Assist Manager Finance evaluate the finance policies and processes and develop internal controls.
  • Work closely with (department name) team, inter-department and with clients.
  • Any other work assigned by the Finance Manager.

Qualifications

  • At a minimum, a Diploma / Degree in Accounting and Finance
  • At least 5 years experience in a similar role
  • Good knowledge of technical accounting and statutory obligations
  • Excellent knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office
  • Experience in the shipping industry is preferred with the ability to read airline/shipping documentation including BOL, invoice.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to identify and suggest areas for internal control improvements
  • Self-motivated and capable of handling multiple tasks
  • Ability to work either independently or collaboratively as needed
  • Be a team player
  • Good communication skills
