We seek an adept Sales Manager to join Pacific Forum Line, focusing on engaging customers throughout the Pacific and New Zealand, understanding their requirements, and offering effective solutions. Responsible for meeting sales targets by nurturing existing relationships and acquiring new business, you'll leverage insights to devise and execute supply chain solutions. The role involves crafting strategies to directly influence commercial outcomes, including managing capacity, cargo diversity, and overseeing service delivery across all modes.

Job Description

Based in our Apia, Samoa office and reporting to the General Manager, PFL you will play a key role in developing innovative solutions to meet customer requirements, in conjunction with the sales team, regional offices, and agents.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Assist with the development and implementation of a key account management plan for accounts across Samoa, including an account-by-account budget for volume, revenue, and yield
  • Provide efficient and accurate rates to NZ Trade Manager to upload to CargoWise
  • Maintain a pipeline of new business opportunities as well as secure spot business
  • Track and report on budget performance comparing actual vs budget. Report changes in demand by container type so that the logistics department can adjust container inventory.
  • Develop and package supply chain solutions, utilizing app technology for track and trace and company warehouse and trucking capabilities for to door solutions
  • Implement customer relationship strategies, including call cycle, entertainment and other communication strategies
  • Negotiate and secure sales at optimal price and yield and always pricing within the company guidelines
  • Coordinate push and pull sales actions with the international sales team. This involves the timely distribution of email sales leads or market intelligence and the timely response to incoming sales requests
  • Maintain high standards of written communication, including quotations to customers, written sales leads or in sales reports
  • Identify, negotiate, manage and execute special events, trade shows and retail functions
  • Consistently represent the brand in a positive and ethical manner to our clients, and different forums such as Government, Chambers and SAME
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll bring to the table:

  • A minimum of 5 years in similar position within the shipping or freight forwarding industry (or similar)
  • Experience with CargoWise would be advantageous (but not essential)
  • Self-driven to achieve goals; high energy level is essential, dedicated work ethic
  • Ability to think strategically and execute with excellence
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • A desire to be resourceful, entrepreneurial and innovative to drive sales growth
  • Ability to adapt to evolving role and responsibilities; open to new learning opportunities
  • A full clean Drivers Licence

You will be an emotionally intelligent leader with excellent interpersonal skills.  You have highly developed business acumen including people, relationship and financial management, excellent analytical skills and the ability to work tactically and strategically to ensure organisational needs are met.

With strong technical skills in Excel and PowerPoint, you have highly developed verbal and written communication skills, including outstanding presentation skills and the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and persuasively and all levels of an organisation.  There will be the occasional international travel to the Pacific Islands.
