Job Description

The Controls Engineer reports to the Director, Automation and Controls. The role is an exciting opportunity to create, sustain and continuously improve our automation and electrical systems.  System integration and infrastructure will be at the core of this dynamic and fast paced opportunity.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Design, test and develop the Automated Systems to meet business needs
  • Develop separate elements of our electrical systems that work well in support of our continued growth of our facilities
  • Recommend upgrades for existing systems and programs
  • Create various diagrams, flowcharts and models that illustrate the type of infrastructure needed for different installations.
  • Document each aspect of a system or application as a reference for future upgrades and maintenance
  • Create supporting diagrams, flowcharts and models that illustrates the desired outcome
  • Design, test and develop Control systems meeting business objectives
  • Develop separate elements of a project that work well in our cross functional processes as a whole

  • Revisit the development process to refine key aspects of our program that addresses client or consumer concerns
  • Verify and commission electrical control panels
  • Support electrical distribution system that supply the packing houses
  • Support our safety culture in electrical safety (Arch Flash – NFPA70E)
  • Manage, support and maintain our sites electrical One-Line drawings
  • Design, install and support our Motor Control Centers (MCCs)
  • Be the business champion for our Power Monitoring systems

Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field with 1-2 years of experience developing automation systems or 5 years of experience developing/supporting automation system in lieu of degree
  • Detailed oriented, highly organized, committed to superior quality
  • Recommend upgrades for existing systems and programs
  • Ensure continued functionality of the process during maintenance and testing of our Automation and Electrical systems.
  • Document each aspect of a system or application as a reference for future upgrades and maintenance
  • Effective written and verbal communication as well as interpersonal skills to work in a collaborative team environment that includes; shared responsibilities, establishing and maintaining good working relationships with others to support team and company objectives and a willingness to work in all areas of the facility
  • Ensure continued functionality of operation’s processes during maintenance and testing of Automation systems and infrastructure
  • Exposure to and understanding of Instrumentation and Electrical Safety practices

Experience and proficiency in the following:

 

  • Electrical:
    • Control Panels
    • Distribution systems
    • Electrical Safety (Arch Flash – NFPA70E)
    • Electrical Fault Studies
    • Site electrical One-Line diagrams
    • Motor Control Center (MCC) design
    • Power Monitoring systems
  • PLC Systems and hardware:
    • Relay logic,
    • Wiring I/O in control systems
    • Wireless communications, wireless and wiring & programming various types of instrumentation, understanding of control logic, etc. is preferred.

Clear Understanding of Automation components such as:

  • VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives)
  • PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers)
  • HMI’s (Human Machine Interface)

Pay Range: $80,000 - $120,000, and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
