Job Description

Wonderful Orchards is currently looking for a Director, Financial Planning, and Analysis.  The Director is responsible for leading the financial planning and analysis processes, conducting analytics for multiple company P&L’s, collaborating closely with operations support functions, and providing broad decision support analytics to assist business leaders. 

This is a key role that includes frequent interaction with the senior management and corporate finance teams. This role will be ideal for candidates with a strong technical background and experience managing FP&A teams.  A successful track record of establishing efficient financial planning processes, providing effective management reporting, and driving critical financial decisions is highly desirable. The successful candidate will have the ability to effectively interact and manage across multiple businesses within a complex organizational structure and closely liaise with accounting, reporting, and production analysis teams.  This role will report to the Senior Director, Financial Planning, and Analysis.

*Based out of Wonderful Orchards' main office in Shafter, CA* 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process for our farming, nursery, bee, and lab businesses which includes annual budget creation, multi-year forecasts, and key reporting requirements. 
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis in support of quarterly business performance review meetings.
  • Prepare succinct and clear executive presentations that simplify complex topics, often with time sensitive deliverables.
  • Become an expert on the company’s business model and financial drivers. Create effective performance metrics to drive accountability and ownership within the business units.
  • Develop partnerships with stakeholders throughout the organization.
  • Strong project management skills and demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional alignment on finance processes and planning.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with finance and operations FP&A teams.
  • Lead and coordinate ad hoc quantitative analyses as requested by company leadership on data sets ranging across general ledger data, financial and operational data, with a goal not just to present numbers but to help derive insights from the information.
  • Actively seek opportunities to improve tools and processes.

Qualifications

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of work experience within the Finance function.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to develop new processes when necessary.
  • Experience resolving complex business problems with well-structured analytics.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize projects, and adapt within a dynamic, changing business environment.
  • Advanced level of Excel and PowerPoint required. Oracle EBS, Hyperion, and Tableau skills a plus. 

Team Leadership

  • 5+ years experience in leading and managing a team.
  • Commitment to continuous training and improvement of employees throughout the finance function.
  • Ability to provide mentorship and be an effective coach and have challenging employee conversations when necessary.
  • Team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible, with excellent presentation skills, including strong oral and writing capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate and drive a team towards a strategic vision.

Pay Range: $155,000 - $170,000, and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
