Job Description
At Wonderful Laboratories we are seeking a Field Service Technician to join our Ag Chemistry Lab! We are seeking a diplomatic technician to interface with customers. This position will collect samples from customers’ fields, return samples to our Ag chemistry lab, and occasionally perform technical lab work.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Sampling of water and agricultural commodities at client facilities/origin and transporting to the lab.
- Prepare samples for submission to the laboratory for pre-determined analysis. Completes chain of custody documents and ensures proper sample storage and transportation.
- Maintains the site-specific field notebook with all daily field information in addition to filling out required paperwork to be submitted to supervisor, in a timely manner.
- Handles routine mapping of sites.
- Maintains assigned company vehicle in accordance with guidelines established by Fleet Department.
- Receive and log in sample in preparation for analysis. Review sample and any attached documentation to assign an identification number and enter information into Laboratory.
- Information Management System (LIMS). Prepare documentation as necessary.
- Contact client, when necessary, to obtain and clarify missing or unclear information to ensure that identification of client code, test code, and sample contents are accurate.
- May assist laboratory personnel with the preparation and analysis of samples.
- Other related duties as needed.
Qualifications
Key qualifications include, but are not limited to the following:
- High School diploma or higher required
- Valid CA driver’s license
- 2+ years of experience with sample collection, working with field maps, and servicing customers
- 2+ years working in a lab setting is preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Word & Excel; 40 WPM a plus.
- Familiarity preparing samples in a lab setting and running lab equipment
- Familiarity using a manual auger, GPS, and other geo-tabbing equipment
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication; both written and oral
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent time management and workflow optimization
- Excellent professional demeanor, especially in uncertain or sometimes stressful situations/environments
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
- COVID vaccination will be required for this position unless candidate has a legally valid exemption.
Pay Range: $19.00/hour - $23.00/hour, and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
