Job Description

The Cold Storage and Transportation Manager is a key member of the nursery management team and reports to the Director, Operations Support. This position focuses on several areas of responsibility while managing cost, safety, teamwork, and sustainability. Areas of responsibility include product inventory management in cold storage, oversight of in-house truck drivers and shipping team, and third-party shipping arrangements for all nursery product lines.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead, mentor, and support team of truck drivers, forklift drivers, and shipping admin personnel
  • Employee hiring, training, performance reviews, corrective action planning
  • Oversee daily operations while controlling and managing inventory and logistics
  • Develop budgets and review cost variances to budget
  • Develop, implement, and review operational policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory guidelines and policies
  • Track progress of activities and forecast projected completion dates
  • Collaborate with production and sales department to ensure proactive communication and alignment on activities and schedules
  • Problem resolution with customers when things go wrong with product deliveries

Qualifications

Key qualifications include, but are not limited to the following:

  • COVID vaccination will be required for this position unless candidate has a legally valid exemption
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and five years of operations management experience in commercial nursery or manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations
  • Ability to build consensus and relationships among team members
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. English and Spanish strongly desired
  • Microsoft Excel experience
  • Impeccable attention to detail. Mandatory when dealing with 1000’s of SKU’s
  • Have knowledge of ERP/MRP systems preferably Oracle EBS
  • Class A driver’s license preferred but not required

Pay Range: $75,000 - $90,000, plus bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
