Job Description

Overview:

The Industrial Engineer manages projects and develops systems that impact operations teams in California, New Jersey and Texas.  There is a focus for the person in this role to develop sustainable solutions that have KPI driven governance, leading to accountability being passed on to end users.  The successful candidate will have a focus on excellent internal customer service, stakeholder engagement, and supplier management always looking to save the company money through Process Improvement and Optimization.  This position will also improve manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement, and efficiency gains by leveraging lean manufacturing principles.  The Industrial Engineer is a hands-on position and a key process owner in their area of responsibility.  They are responsible for the accurate documentation and management of changes implemented through continuous improvement.  A high level of adherence to expectations around quality, safety, cost, and other project variables is important.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Responsible for overseeing and leading continuous improvement projects at Wonderful Citrus, in partnership with the Sr. Director of Continuous Improvement
  • Provide support to multiple teams within Wonderful Citrus including Capital Projects, Continuous Improvement, Operations, Safety, Quality and Procurement initiatives to maximize return on investments.
  • Provide technical expertise related to the identification of waste, specifically within manufacturing operations, while simultaneously leading and executing continuous improvement projects.
  • Update project status, give feedback, and provides appropriate reporting for key activities assigned
  • Carryout follow-up programs to maintain the achieved savings, to complete additional training, to detect further savings opportunities; as well as ensure the overall continuity of the project
  • Lead process optimization initiatives by championing Lean activities and improvement events
  • Conduct research and data analysis for specific projects to gain insight and direction, as required
  • Actively seek ways to streamline business processes
  • Analyze total costs, price and rate benchmarking and work collaboratively to implement improvements and establish benchmarks
  • Ensure project management deliverables are on track and report out any delays, challenges, or roadblocks
  • Develop, implement, and sustain standards for cost structure, layouts, work instructions, Bills of Materials, and routings
  • Develop, implement, and sustain the standardizing the new item setup process and procedure
  • Provide updated layouts and optimization to process flows that are required to reduce inefficiencies in the process
  • WOW Leader and Trainer in Wonderful Citrus for all levels of the organization
  • 25%-50% travel will be required to support other facilities

Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll bring to the table:

  • COVID vaccination will be required for this position unless candidate has a legally valid exemption.
  • B.S. in Industrial Engineering preferred or 5-7 years of related business experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects across multiple areas of the business, balancing needs of different stakeholders and priorities
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in food
  • Strong customer service mindset with experience engaging stakeholders and decision makers at all levels and functions within the organization
  • Demonstrated influential leadership with an ability to build strong relationships with peers, leadership and corporate Wonderful Company stakeholders
  • Must have ability to partner with team members across multiple geographies with a willingness to learn and progressively increase scope of work
  • Excellent computer skills and familiar with current software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.  Experience with Oracle a plus
  • Innovative thinker with problem solving, cost reduction, process improvement and supplier risk reduction experience
  • Self-starter, motivated and can work with minimum supervision

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Familiarity with products lines and customer base is a plus.
  • Must be familiar with database systems and be able to input and retrieve data.

Pay Range: $90,000 - $100,000, and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
