Job Description

Overview:

The Logistics Supervisor-Dry Goods is responsible for all aspects of shipping/receiving, inventory management, and forklift fleet management at the shift level. The ideal candidate has experience in the agricultural industry and warehousing/packing operations, with hands-on experience managing perishable products across multiple varieties. Candidate must be a team player with a strong work ethic and proven ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment. Primary responsibility is to provide technical and administrative oversight and expertise to logistics operations while building high-performing teams. This role can directly supervise 8 or more Leads, Planners, and Logistics Specialists, with up to 50+ hourly employees. 

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Ensure monitoring of and adherence to strategic FIFO and WMS inventory functionality across facility and within outside storage facilities.
  • Administrative responsibilities (inventory reporting, labor management, budgets, etc)
  • Daily/weekly/monthly data collection and analysis
  • Develop capability of the hourly work force with specific attention to creation and maintenance of applicable skill sets
  • Manage day-to-day inventory systems, processes, and procedures to ensure achievement of key business results
  • Continually evaluate the effectiveness of existing work processes for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and accuracy
  • Report daily inventories and FIFO position, exceptions, and outages; determine root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Coordinate interdepartmentally to safeguard movement of goods while maximizing efficiencies and delivering high-level customer service to both internal and external customers
  • Develop, implement, and sustain standard work procedures
  • Recognize and respond to trends; troubleshoot opportunities and communicate solutions
  • Supervise and analyze employee performance; train and evaluate employees
  • Coordinate inventory movement and storage across facilities, including external storage, as necessary
  • Coach, mentor, develop, and train hourly workforce; evaluate and track employee performance
  • Provide strong leadership and consistent feedback to all subordinates; demonstrates and promotes company culture through word and action

Qualifications

  • COVID vaccination will be required for this position unless candidate has a legally valid exemption
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in distribution leadership required – perishable and/or agriculture preferred
  • Bachelors degree in business or similar field preferred
  • High level functionality in a team environment where honest communication, a positive attitude, engagement, and personal accountability is expected

  • Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain & Logistics, or related field highly desired
  • Minimum 3 years’ related experience in produce industry/agriculture environment required
  • Food processing and/or production leadership desired
  • Advanced knowledge of computerized WMS (warehouse management systems) and well-developed computer skills required
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks required
  • Excellent management skills including supervision, leadership, communication, and planning necessary

Pay Range: $70,000 - $80,000, and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
