Neptune Pacific Direct Line (NPDL) operates market leading brands in shipping and logistics services across 18 Pacific Island markets. The Company is vertically integrated providing supply chain solutions between worldwide markets and the Pacific Islands. NPDL is the largest carrier in its core Pacific Island markets operating eight container ships and servicing 18 Pacific Island nations. The downstream businesses include six container depot sites, six significant warehouse sites, substantial plant and equipment and a large team across diversified cultures.

Established in 1997, Neptune Pacific Line (NPL) has grown from strength to strength, originally connecting Australia, New Zealand and Fiji trades in liner and bulk shipping services, to today, providing services for most Pacific Island nations, Australia, NZ as well as extending services to Asia, the Indian subcontinent, Europe, South Africa, and North America.  In 2014, NPL continued to strengthen its presence in the South Pacific through a Pacific Forum Line Joint venture with the Government of Samoa.  Pacific Direct Line (PDL) joined NPDL in March 2020, expanding Neptune’s shipping and agency network as well as a vertical asset providing deeper supply chain services including sea and airfreight, 3PL, warehousing, trucking, fumigation and energy trading.

The Sales Manager – Central position is responsibile for leading the Central Sales team, driving business for Group Liner sales as well as promoting the Fiji Landside Logistics & Trucking Business, by leading and motivating the Fiji Central sales teams. The Sales Manager – Central will report directly to the Sales Manager Fiji.

Job Description

  • In conjunction with the Sales Manager-Fiji , implement and fulfil sales budgets balancing sales budget risk vs sales opportunities so that sales plans are met.
  • To build and lead a high performance sales team in Central Fiji, with a culture of owning their sales budget and who are accountable for achieving sales targets
  • Carrying out regular performance reviews, reporting on the trends and where necessary taking corrective actions.
  • Meet KPI targets for top 10 corporate customer visits.
  • Implementing strategies balancing sales activities focused on driving new business and key account relationships management strategies, including a three-pillar sales operation for each agency namely find, keep and grow sales plan.
  • To formulate and implement marketing and branding strategies for the Liner business including leveraging PR and social media opportunities.
  • Oversite of container demand forecast and accuracy within the timeliness necessary for the logistics department to optimize inventory and address imbalances via implementing optimal steering strategies.
  • Stay abreast on all relevant industry trends, the competitive landscape and client needs representing the Neptune Group at relevant industry conference and networking events.
  • Build and maintain long-term strategic relationships with major clients and key stakeholders
  • Send weekly reports to Sales Manager Fiji, covering the teams number of customer visits, customer gains and losses and any customer service issues, including suggested solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or related discipline
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to adapt style to suit a variety of cultures and working styles.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in senior sales leadership
  • Exceptional negotiation, networking and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated ability in working with financial budgets and business plans.
  • Proven experience in cost effective budget management, including analysis and reporting
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to balance risk and cost to deliver positive outcomes

  • Excellent foundation in the Finance and Accounting discipline
  • Highly developed computer skills
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills

  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, including outstanding presentation skills and ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and persuasively at all levels of an organisation

 

Additional Information

  • 10+ years’ experience in shipping industry
  • 10+ years demonstrable experience in leadership role
  • Cargo Wise Level 2 Certification
  • Six Sigma, Lean or other Process Improvement certifications preferred
