Job Description

You will be a key member of our Transam Logistics team, ensuring import services are fulfilled for our valued customers on time and to standard.  No two days will be the same, and you will be kept busy ensuring documents are received and processed in a timely manner, coordinating with clients as well as third party services including but not limited to shipping lines, 3PL operators, trucking companies so that documentation meets Customs and Ministry for Primary Industries (“MPI”) requirements to enable timely import and clearance approvals.

This role is based in Mangere and reports to the Transam Logistics General Manager.

What you will be doing:

  • Responsible for the tracking of customer freight from origin ports through to the arrival and clearance at destination.
  • Being the central point of contact for customers, service provides and overseas agents to coordinate the importing of freight of all kinds (FAK) & full container load (FCL) containers
  • First point of contact to receive and enter import manifests into ERP system
  • Manage the coordination of imports including clearances, devanning and returning of empty containers to the container depot
  • Create and issue arrival notices and invoices for relevant charges to appropriate parties
  • Liaise with and manage MPI and Customs requirements as required
  • Issues cargo DO’s and releases
  • Provide support to Transam Logistics as required for export LCL and FAK.
  • Other tasks as may reasonably be required.

Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll bring to the table:

  • Previous experience an imports role within freight forwarding.
  • Previous Export and/or Airfreight experience would be advantageous
  • Operational experience in CargoWise modules.
  • Operational understanding of MPI and Customs requirements.
  • Keen and proactive team player.
  • Intermediate level computer skills (including Excel) with interest to learn new systems.

This role would suit someone with excellent interpersonal skills and a customer centric approach. This is a fast-paced environment, so your ability to work under pressure will help you succeed in this role. You will be great at planning and organizing, have strong self-management skills, be a confident decision maker, resilient with operations follow up and deadlines, and have an eye for detail to get the right results first time.
