SUMMARY OF POSITION

Responsible for supervising accounting personnel in performance of capitalization of fixed assets, lease accounting, and related general ledger support to the other department functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Reviews and approves the creation or disposal of assets to all fixed asset listings (GAAP, Tax, & Property Tax).

·         Oversees workload of department for the purpose of maximizing the efficiency of the work force and meeting operational requirements.

·         Responsible for reviewing and posting journals related to fixed assets valuation and lease accounting.

·         Prepares account reconciliations to ensure proper balances are maintained and supportable.

·         Preforms audits of fixed assets to ensure that all are reported accurately.

·         Prepares monthly management performance reports for executive review.

·         Oversees the preparation of the Property Tax filings and County Property Tax audits.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Computer skills

·         Proficient in Excel, and Word applications

·         Understanding of Oracle and related reporting tools

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

·         Knowledge of fixed asset and lease accounting systems and controls.

LEADERSHIP

·         Strong problem-solving skills.

FUNCTIONAL

·         Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

·         Ability to develop and recommend policy and procedure to govern fixed assets and inventory.

·         Working knowledge of GAAP.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

·         Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.

·         CMA or CPA certification preferred but not required.

·         3-5 years’ experience in Accounting.

·         Experience with managing the fixed asset listing ensuring all reporting requirements and controls are met.

·         Knowledge of lease accounting (specifically the ASC 542 requirements).
