Job Description

Supporting the Payroll Manager with an international portfolio (Australia, Fiji, NZ, Singapore, HK, Samoa, Tonga), you will be responsible for processing and coordinating the execution of weekly, fortnightly and monthly pay runs. Working closely with the Payroll Manager and the wider HR team this role ensures our payroll systems and processes are compliant and effective for our business and employees. 

Here's what you'll do:

  • Perform timely and accurate preparation of payroll for the company via the payroll systems; ensuring employees are paid timely, accurately and in compliance with state laws and company policies.
  • Be able to use payroll systems which includes PayGlobal, ADP Payline and Datacom, as well as any other payroll platforms that may be added following merger and acquisitions, or business improvement opportunities.
  • Balance payroll runs and ensure all compliance reports are prepared and fully reconciled. Run weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly reports for multiple business units and multiple departments
  • Prepare, review and organize payroll documents for bonuses payments and adhoc payments
  • Setup, process and verify off-cycle check, bonuses, voids and reissue
  • Perform and complete Quarterly and Year-End duties and for accurate reporting
  • Make recommendations to the Payroll Manager and team to help strengthen departmental controls, processes and systems
  • Preparing all Payroll submissions including company specific payroll returns, tax returns, online filings with tax authorities, superannuation and worker’s compensation etc, ensuring all requirements are met within required timeframes
  • Maintain accurate employee records and follow procedures with respect to the proper filing of hard/soft copy information
  • Research on inquires for payroll, accounting and HR and reply to employees, HR and management in a professional and timely manner. Escalating any significant risks and issues in a timely manner
  • Respond to staff queries and promote a strong customer focus with ongoing emphasis on quality-of-service delivery.

Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll bring to the table:

  • 3-5+ years Payroll experience in a multi-national company
  • Any NZ or overseas qualification in human resources or payroll
  • Medium to large payroll technical expertise either in Datacom or Pay Global
  • Understanding of state, federal and international payroll and payroll tax laws
  • Ability to work independently with strong time management and organization skills, ensuring all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely every payroll cycle
  • Proficiency in a range of computer packages and payroll systems such as PayGlobal, ADP Payline, Datacom, PayDay as well as advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

This role is based in Mangere, Auckland. You will love problem solving and be able to exercise sound business judgment; have the ability to anticipate issues and resolve them, as well as excellent communications skills (both written and verbal) to facilitate clear and concise communication with a high level of professionalism. You thrive in a collaborative environment with highly developed interpersonal skills to collaborate and build strong relationships at all levels of the organisation.

Your attention to detail will be top notch as you will need to check for any abnormalities in the processing of the pay runs. Your ability to multi-task and prioritise will be the secret of your success. Your can-do attitude and passion for continuous improvement will ensure we are consistently streamlining processes within the business.
