Our Operations Finance Analyst is an integral member of our finance team that is responsible for financial planning, reporting, forecasting, costing, and strategic projects and process improvements. The finance team works with production and provides gold standard analytical, financial, and strategic support to our wine businesses, including JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery, Landmark Winery, JNSQ, and our recently acquired Lewis Cellars in Napa Valley.

The successful candidate will be comfortable building relationships at all levels of the organization, conducting financial analyses, and then communicating insights and recommendations to the Finance and Accounting teams as well as to senior management, including the FIJI/JUSTIN Senior Executive Team.

This position will be based at our in Paso Robles and working a hybrid schedule with 3 days per week in the office.

Job Description

  • Partner with various operations teams including Winemakers, Grower Relations, Sourcing, Procurement, Logistics, and Capital Projects, in order to understand and analyze the business drivers for our wine production including:

               o  Grape cost

               o  Packaging

               o  Production overhead

               o  Logistics

  • Publish Wine, Estate & Logistics reporting, working with Business partners to develop variance explanations
  • Prepare monthly close and journal entries, and support department-level forecasting and budgeting
  • Responsible for Harvest scorecard/tracking and JDE Blend/Grower Support
  • Perform new product analysis
  • Plan, review and analyze all capital spending projects & adherence to budget
  • Utilize JD Edwards to develop value-added reporting tools
  • Focus on key performance indicators and/or ongoing process improvement opportunities
  • Partner with Accounting on projects as needed, e.g. annual audit
  • Work closely with the Operations team to understand past, current and future trends of grape pricing, packaging, production/bottling cost and logistics expenses
  • Regularly review business processes and procedures and recommend changes to improve their efficiency and/or effectiveness as needed
  • Take large quantities of financial data and analytic results and condense them into a coherent story with clear, easy-to-understand conclusions and implications

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience; experience in wine industry is a plus
  • Statistics or a related field; understanding of GAAP standards and procedures a plus
  • Strong Excel skills required
  • Collaborative team player, strong relationship-building, and active partnership with cross-functional teams
  • Hands-on / Roll up your sleeves approach, working with the team to produce high quality work products; we are a detail-oriented organization and will drill to invoice-level data when needed
  • Availability to travel between our Paso and Los Angeles offices, and to our wine businesses across California (up to 10%)
  • Associate's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or related field
  • COVID vaccination will be required for this position unless candidate has a legally valid exemption
