Job Description

Reporting to the Australian Country Manager, you will be responsible for achieving sales budgets by optimizing sales from existing accounts through relationship management, as well as hunting and winning new business. You will thrive in driving the sale of all services including sea and airfreight, warehousing, trucking and forwarding divisions. With a broad scope of services to sell, it is essential to have a deep understanding of customer needs and what supply chain solutions can be tailored to meet these.

Here’s some of what you’ll do:

  • Develop and implement a key account management plan for current accounts including an account-by-account budget for volume, revenue, jobs and yield.
  • Maintain a pipeline of new business opportunities as well as secure spot business
  • Track and report on budget performance comparing actual vs budget. Report changes in demand by container type so that the logistics department can adjust container inventory.
  • Develop and package supply chain solutions, utilizing app technology for track and trace and company warehouse and trucking capabilities for to door solutions
  • Implement customer relationship strategies, including call cycle, entertainment and other communication strategies
  • Negotiate and secure sales at optimal price and yield and always pricing within the company guidelines
  • Coordinate push and pull sales actions with the international sales team. This involves the timely distribution of email sales leads or market intelligence and the timely response to incoming sales requests
  • Maintain high standards of written communication, including quotations to customers, written sales leads or in sales reports
  • When applicable: Identify, negotiate, manage and execute special events, trade shows and retail functions

This role is based in Victoria, Australia, and we are looking for someone who can hit the ground running and loves being a “hunter”. You have a real nose for new opportunities and are able to connect quickly as well as build successful client relationships with your consultative approach and winning personality. You will work with each new account to understanding your customer and their needs thoroughly, fully integrating and converting the accounts into core business. You understand and take a strong interest in your client’s business, having had previous success in converting opportunities into customers by selling a differentiated value, and service above your competitors. You are able to manage your own sales pipeline and also place high importance on customer satisfaction and have a great track record here.

Being adaptable, flexible and a forward thinker will really help you succeed in this role with a complex culture. There will be some local travel around Victoria as well as the occasional international travel to the Pacific Islands as we grow the business.

Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll bring to the table:

  • Experience in a Sales and BD role within the freight forwarding, logistics or shipping industry with a book of business. Experience in airfreight would be beneficial.
  • Strong analytical skills to present facts and story tell data to senior leaders for decision making
  • Project management skills to manage special cargo projects within the business
  • Resourceful, entrepreneurial and innovative to drive sales growth
  • Cargo Wise experience is preferred but not essential
  • Proven experience of successfully working with accounting teams of varied abilities across the Pacific.

Ideally you will have had previous experience in a B2B sales/business development role where you have delivered exceptional solutions/outcomes for your customers businesses. Your confident and organised approach, excellent communication and listening skills and ability to think strategically and deliver on the detail will ensure your success in this new role. A good knowledge of Microsoft products, excellent presentation skills and strong business and commercial acumen is essential for this position.
