The Electrical Controls Manager will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting all process controls and operation support systems.  Experience with PLC’s, HMI’s, automation and control system design and hands-on troubleshooting as well as provide Facilities and Operational processes electrical power equipment support, electrical integration and control support, CapEx and Continuous Improvement project management, Engineering Support working within Internal and External agencies. Additionally, leading and managing the electrical team employing the Reliability tools for success.

Job Description

  • Accomplishes Electrical Maintenance objectives by orientating, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, appraising and reviewing job performance and execution by the team.  
  • Implementing Lean practices into operational tasks and performance of electrical operations.
  • Provides Engineering support and maintenance of Electrical power distribution within and around the plant. 
  • Combine technical expertise, solid project management skills and the ability to facilitate or lead cross functional teams to provide a complete source of packaging services for our manufacturing plant.
  • Work closely with the operations, engineering and quality groups to provide technical support and be instrumental in ensuring that departmental and plant objectives are met in areas such as Safety, Quality, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Recommend, develop, coordinate, and implement process changes, modifications, or developments for productivity improvements, quality improvements, cost savings, and new product development.
  • Provide Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering specifications and project scopes.
  • Establish construction and structural standards for Electrical Engineering Projects.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining an approved Electrical/Controls contractor list.
  • Complies with Electrical Safety standards and advises Senior management of any needed safety actions required.
  • Lead team in control system upgrades of existing equipment and integration of new/existing equipment
  • Troubleshoot electrical wiring, relay logic, control and safety circuits using electrical schematics and electronic test equipment

  • Able to work off-shifts, weekends & extended shifts (i.e. 12 hrs.)
  • Electrical Control Panels familiarization
  • Follows and fully understands Instrumentation and Electrical Safety practices (LOTO, Arch flash)
  • Must possess a high level of mechanical & electrical aptitude and be an effective communicator, mentor, and trainer
  • AutoCAD and/or Visio proficiency preferred
  • Ability to fluently read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, blueprints, and layouts is required
  • Effective written and verbal communication as well as interpersonal skills to work in a collaborative team environment that includes; shared responsibilities, establishing and maintaining good working relationships with others to support team and company objectives and a willingness to work in all areas of the facility
  • Strong record of successful troubleshooting skills.
  • Prior project management experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with plant operations, processing and packaging equipment, preferably in the Food/Beverage industry.
  • Demonstrated leadership, planning, organization, and communication skills
  • Prior experience/interaction with Food Industry/manufacturing standards.
  • Ability to work in and with a CMMS System.
  • Strategic and tactical planning skills vital for success.

Education & Experience

  • Associates degree in electronics from accredited college or certificate of completion from a technical program (Electrical/Electronic technology or similar, preferred) with 5 years’ experience
  • Experience with programming of Drives, PLCs, and HMI’s is highly preferred
  • Experience and proficiency with relay logic, programming various types of instrumentation, wiring of I/O for control systems, and understanding of programmable logic controllers’ architecture
