Job Description

The role:

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller based in NZ, you will ensure the NPDL Group completes its financial reporting obligations both for US Head Office reporting and local statutory compliance in a timely, efficient, and coordinated manner.

You will also be an important member of the NPDL Central Accounting team as we build out the technical reporting capability of the Group, drafting and issuing technical accounting guidance on all new standards as well as finance SOP’s and ensuring the month end close, consolidation and submission to our US head office is completed within the 5WD deadline.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring NPDL Group completes its group and local statutory obligations in a timely and efficient manner across all jurisdictions and work towards zero adjustments.
  • Issue clear and concise detailed technical accounting guidance on all new accounting standards including accounting templates where necessary to local accounting teams.
  • Draft all statutory financial statements where feasible.
  • Work with Group Tax Manager to compile deferred tax calculations.
  • Acting as the keyNPDL point of contact for external auditors on any technical accounting matters.
  • Assist NPDL Finance on the annual and monthly close process.
  • Assist NPDL Finance to ensure all financial reporting and tax information requests from corporate are covered off quickly and efficiently.
  • To issue and maintain the detailed NPDL finance manual covering all end-to-end process.
  • Providing support in finance related tasks for senior management

This role is based in Parnell, Auckland, and we are looking for someone who can hit the ground running and thrive in a dynamic team environment. We need a confident communicator that can operate at all levels of the business, to ensure we meet the needs of both internal and external customers.  As you can see your interpersonal skills are key. Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll bring to the table:

  • Big 4 Qualified Accountant with 3-4 years statutory audit experience to manager level.
  • Strong experience of consolidated financial reporting in a multi-currency environment.
  • Sound, up to date technical accounting experience (IFRS is essential, US GAAP is advantageous)
  • 1-2 years drafting statutory financial statements (IFRS Equivalent).
  • Experience of compiling a detailed YE reporting pack to auditors.
  • Experience of documenting and enforcing a strong control environment with clear and concise end to end accounting instructions.
  • Detailed understanding of NZ financial reporting and tax requirements.
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently with a high sense of urgency and strategic thinking.
  • Proven experience of successfully working with accounting teams of varied abilities across the Pacific.

You will have excellent attention to detail, with a strong attitude to complete tasks correctly the first time. In addition, you will have a good understanding of what “Best Practice” looks like, armed with a “Can do” attitude to enable you to effectively bring disparate accounting teams across the region of varying abilities with you on this transformation journey.
