Vineyard Technician, Wonderful Nurseries

Job Description

Responsible for the day-to-day completion of tasks on a specific vineyard ranch or group of ranches, including overseeing work crews, tractor driver/equipment operators, ensuring proper safety training and compliance with company safety guidelines, meal and break times, and OSHA rules. In addition, you will provide a safe work environment that is free of harassment; communicate HR & Payroll related issues with employees, supervisors, Human Resources, Payroll and Timekeeping personnel.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Irrigation Scheduling and Submitting orders to water districts
  • Recording meter readings monthly and as needed.
  • Support harvest team with inventory, crew supervision, and harvest reports.
  • Work with Nurseries Production Manager for scouting in mother blocks and dormant blocks.
  • Collecting viticulture data to help develop estimates.
  • Engage communications with employees and Supervisor.
  • Identify and excite best practices concerning the efficiency.
  • Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
  • Work in conjunction with Vineyard Management to plan for and share manpower resources and day-to-day responsibilities for ranch activities.
  • Responsible for workflow, record keeping, tools and vehicle maintenance depending upon specific project.
  • On a weekly basis, work in conjunction with Vineyard Management and Ranch Leads to set output standards and schedules for vineyard field work.
  • In season crop, fertility, pest, and disease management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What you'll bring to the table:

  • COVID vaccination will be required for this position unless candidate has a legally valid exemption
  • High school diploma or equivalent required plus one-year practical training or education in field related project or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Experience in the green vine industry.
  • Knowledge of viticulture practices and experience in vineyard planning and development.
  • Experience in sorting, irrigation, packing and grafting green vines  
  • Experience with operation of wheel, crawler, and construction tractors, farming implements, machine harvesters as well as ATV and utility machines.
