Job Description

Overview:

The Harvest Coordinator will help coordinate harvest for the farm labor contractors and while ensuring a safe working environment. This position is responsible for managing harvest quality in the field and ensuring harvest crews are harvesting to the size and color specs as directed. This position will ensure all food safety guidelines are followed enforcing good harvesting practices in order to deliver a top-quality product to our customers.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  •  Communicate with farming staff to verify blocks scheduled for harvest do not have any harvesting restrictions (i.e. Spraying, Irrigation, etc.). 
  • Communicate harvesting plans to Farm Labor Contractors
  •  Arrive to the field early for routine observations and monitoring of field conditions to ensure blocks scheduled for harvest are free of any restrictions which could cause harvesting delays.
  • Supervise harvest crews to ensure they are harvesting in the correct location
  • Oversees that pick quality meets harvest standards and ensures
  • Monitor harvest crews to ensure size and color specifications are being met
  • Monitors fields to ensure all fruit is cleaned and no fruit is left behind
  • Ensure safe harvesting practices are followed, proper equipment is utilized, and all food safety guideless are adhered by harvesting crews
  • Maintain and report accurate field balances
  • Responsible for maturity testing following all county and state specs
  • Responsible for crop estimates to forecast the current year’s supply
  • Works in an organized manner keeping field clean and in good order
  • Work independently, displaying self-management skills
  • Represent Wonderful Citrus’ values in communicating to third party contractors.

Qualifications

Here's what you'll bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in either Ag Science or Plant Science is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years prior experience in farming and/or harvestings, preferably as it pertains to citrus.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred
  • Strong people skills and the ability to work with people across many different functions.
  • Ability to work independently in a high pressure environment
  • Strong time management skills,
  • Strategic thinking with tactical and detailed execution
  • Experience writing reports, analyzing data, and effectively presenting information and responding to managers, peers, and growers
  • Must possess, and maintain, a valid CA Driver’s License
